Meal plan (board basis)

Which meals are included in the rate: room only, bed and breakfast, half board, full board, all inclusive.

The meal plan, or board basis, defines which meals are included in the room rate. The standard categories are room only (RO), bed and breakfast (BB), half board (HB: breakfast plus lunch or dinner), full board (FB: all three meals) and all inclusive (AI, meals plus drinks and often activities).

Stating the meal plan clearly avoids misunderstandings at arrival, especially on OTA and wholesale bookings, where it is not always displayed with the same clarity on every platform.

In practice: build meal plans as separate rate plans with their own code, so reporting can split room revenue from food and beverage revenue. Mixing them in one rate inflates ADR and makes it hard to compare with competitors selling room only.
