Rate parity means offering the same price for the same room, dates and conditions across all distribution channels, including your own website. Many OTA contracts have historically required it, and it is still a common expectation even where regulators have limited the strictest parity clauses.
Parity limits how far you can undercut the OTAs on your own website to win direct bookings, but it does not stop you from adding value instead: breakfast, a better cancellation policy, late checkout or member-only perks.
In practice: check your actual contracts and local rules rather than assuming, and monitor parity regularly. Disparities often come from wholesalers leaking rates to OTAs, not from your own pricing, and they undercut both your direct channel and your OTA relationships.
